Free Kick Tournament

Come to Roberts Field from 12pm – 2pm to test your accuracy and kicking strength in this soccer based tournament and win an intramural championship shirt!

Registration will be at https://intramurals.mit.edu/register/.  Anyone allowed on campus will be able to participate on Roberts.  The tournament bracket will be selected randomly and be sent out to all players and teams.

REGISTRATION WILL BE APRIL 25th – APRIL 30th

RULES

A game is played with 2 teams each consisting of 2 players.

Each game will consist of 12 free kicks (place kick taken from anywhere outside the box) 6 by each team, to score as many goals as possible.

Teams will alternate shots. Team A shoots then Team B shoots and so forth.

Who shoots first, will be determined by coin flip/rock paper scissors before the game.

Each player is required to take 3 shots and play goalie for 3 shots per game.

The team shooting is allowed to have both players over the ball but the ball can only be struck once (no passes allowed)

The team with more goals after all attempts will win the game.

If the score is tied after each team takes their free kicks, a penalty kick tiebreaker will decide the winner of that game.

PK tie breaker

Each team will take 2 penalty kicks (one by each player).  Teams will alternate shots in the PK tie breaker

  • Team A player 1 shoots
  • Team B player 1 shoots
  • Team A player 2 shoots
  • Team B player 2 shoots

The goalie does not need to change during the PK tie breaker.

If scores are still equal after 4 PKs, PKs will continue until there is a winner.

The tournament bracket will be narrowed down until we crown a winner.  The winning team will all receive Championship T-shirts.
